Pristine condition. 1930's airplane flying through the clouds vignette. Fabulous. In the late 1920s, Monocoupes were famous for introducing relatively inexpensive, compact, affordable, convenient, sporty, speedy and efficient flying to the light plane market. In an era of large, expensive, open-cockpit biplanes, the Monocoupe was the first popular, compact, enclosed-cabin, two-seat, light plane in the United States. When the owner died in 1929, his interest was sold to Allied Aviation, a holding company. The company was passed into receivership in 1931 and re-emerged as two companies in 1932: Lamber Engine and Machine & Monocoupe Corporation. Ken Prag Collection
