Bronze example of the medal created by Medallic Art Co. of New York to celebrate Hawaiian statehood, August 21, 1959. 63 mm, 129 grams. California sculptor Spero Anargyos (1915-2004) was commissioned to design and model the Hawaii Statehood Medal, Medallic Art Company catalog number 1959-092. More than fifty gold medals were made. Three thousand serially numbered silver were issued, in addition to 29,599 unnumbered bronze. All medals were 2 1/2-inch (63mm) diameter.
