Issued Cole Sanders, 36 shares at $10 per by Alta Montana Company. Signed by Robert Brookes, secretary and Michael Snow, vice president. Vignette shows locomotive steaming by a large mountain, while a small vignette at bottom shows hard rock miners. It is dated April 5, 1881. Please see photos for more detail and condition. This mine is one of the oldest in Montana. The Alta was discovered in 1869. Walter Wickes (president of this company) and other New York capitalists arrived in the late 1870s, took over the Alta, and platted out the camp of Wickes. In 1880, the company reorganized. They owned the Alta, David Copperfield, and Rocky Bar lodes.
