#15 issued to J. P. Winnie for 50 shares on May 22,1863 in Carson City, N. T. Signed by president E. B. Rail and secretary J. P. Winnie. 25c Certificate revenue stamp. Vignette of miner with pick and shovel. Pinter Valentine & Company, San Francisco. Cut unevenly on left. Although listed in Collins 1864 Territorial Directory and once in the Gold Hill Daily News, I found no valuable information on this company. RARE Eagle & Washoe Valley district. Research has it discovered in 1859 and organized in 1861. Includes reprint of 1861 letter to the newspapers of California on this promising district. Rail was a long-time citizen of Carson City and owned a hardware store across from the State Capital which he helped to build. Winnie's name is not absolutely confirmed, but the evidence is strong. There is a Winnie Lane in Carson City. Research on Winnie & Rail included.
