This Bowie knife is a presentation knife made in Sheffield and used by the 9th Corp under General Ambrose Burnside. It is acid etched with "Victory to our Brave Volunteers" on the left side. On one side the initials "ABW" is scratched into the scale. The knife has cast bolsters and butt cap. The scales are cow bone, the blade has a typical Bowie drop point, at 11 in. overall length and a 6.5 in. blade that is devilishly sharp. Very good condition without a sheath. Please see photos for details. From the Kevin Hoffman collection.
