Cert. #1285, issued to Geo. E. Dresser for 100 shares. Signed by John V. Wilson as president and Jules V. Bond as secretary. The company operated a marble mine at Carrera, Nevada, just south of Beatty. The company was comparing it's marble to the famous carrara marble from Italy. Marble mining began in the hills south of Beatty in 1904. These original samples were too fractured; however, about seven years later, better quality deposits were located and the town was soon laid out. Serviced by the Las Vegas and Tonopah Railroad, by May 1913 the town was officially dedicated. The company built a spur railway enabling marble to be efficiently brought to the main line. Today, nothing remains at the site of Carrera except the old foundations, the road and an abandoned quarry (Myrick). VF condition. Uncancelled. City: Carrara State: Nevada Date: HWAC# 51229
