Very Rare Dateline! Signed by CA Witherell and president DE Jones Location: Hillsdale Ledge. Incorporated Oct. 28, 1863, and capitalized at $100,000; 1000 shares at $100 per. WB Cooke & Co. printer. Not cancelled. Upper right corner ever so slightly rounded. No other edge, corner, pinhole issues. Shows light color issues from age. Crossman & Jones were most likely a store in Dayton, Silver City or most probably Como. Crosman most likely refers to John Crosman. The Crosman Mine with John Crosman as president was datelined Como. He was a Lyon County delegate to the constitutional convention. He was also Nevada's first Lt. Governor. This company is not listed in Kelley or Collins. The Palmyra Mining District was located at the north end of the Pine Nut Mountains, extending generally from Lyon Peak on the south to the Carson River on the north. The Indian Springs district was organized in 1860. The Palmyra district, which included the towns of Palmyra and Como, was organized in 1862 in the Pine Nut Mountains 8 miles southeast of Dayton between the Sullivan (to the southwest) and Indian Springs (to the northeast) districts. 25-cent IR stamp.
