Artist Roy Grinnell has dedicated much of his career to preserving Aviation History on canvas, which has earned him worldwide recognition as an aviation artist of the highest caliber. Roy is the proud recipient of the 1999 prestigious R.G. Smith Award for Excellence in Naval Aviation Art where his painting, "Joe Foss--A Proud American" won first place from the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, Florida. The American Fighter Aces Association named Grinnell the associations' "Official Artist" and made him an "Honorary Ace" for his depictions of aerial combat missions flown by America's top Aces throughout WWI, WWII, Korean and Vietnam. He is also the "Official Artist" of the American Combat Airman Hall of Fame and was honored with the "Spirit of Flight" award as well as the Silver Magnoilia Blossom by the Commemorative Air Force in Midland, Texas. Roy's original artwork has been exhibited in some of the most reknown Military, WWII and Aviation museums in the Country, including the Naval Air Museum in Florida, the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Ohio, and the Museum of Flight in Washingon, to name a few, receiving a special award from the United States Air Force Museum for his participation in the Centennial Celebration of Aviation Art. In addition to America, Grinnell's oil paintings have been included in many prestigous exhibits in France, such as the Normandie Niemen Museum, the Lafayette Escadrille Memorial, the Paris Art Show and Le Bourget Aviation Museum, and also at the famous Polish War Museum in Warsaw.

Roy has traveled worldwide to attend commemorations, memorials, reunions, exhibits, anniversaries and honorary events while he works at preserving memories of the heros of Aviation history through his paintings.
