Very early! No. 29, issued for 75 shares to secretary John M. Vickar on November 16th, 1832 in New York. Also signed by president David Aug. Clarkson. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Allegorical vignettes at top and bottom center and portrait vignette of George Washington at left. Printed on thin paper by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Co, NY. Folds, creases, tape repairs. 4.75 x 8.5" This company was organized in 1832. David Clarkson was president of the New York Stock Exchange from 1837-1851. His father was a Revolutionary War hero who served in the New York State Assembly and Senate and was the 6th President of the Bank of New York. After his time on the New York Stock Exchange, he served as president of the Gallatin Fire Insurance Company until he died in 1867.
