Contains two volumes in binding. First edition was published in 1797, second 1804. No page numbers, organized alphabetically geographic name, for example: "Tarborough, a port town of North Carolina, on the W side of Tar River, about 85 miles from its mouth, 140 from Ocrecoc Inlet, 110 N by E of Fayetteville, 37 S of Halifax, 112 S by W of Petersburg in Virginia, and 420 S W of Philadelphia. It contains 523 souls, a court house and goal. Large quantities of tobacco of the Persburg quality, pork beef and Indian corn are collected her for exportation. " Two Maps. Nice 1810 descriptions of towns, rivers, etc. Contents toned and damp stained. Cover and binding are well worn, but intact. Two maps are stained, but not discernible rips or tears. Jedidiah was the author of the first textbook on American geography published in the United States, Geography Made Easy (1784). His geographical writings dominated the field in the United States until his death. He was an author and minister, but was best known for his education books and gazetteers. The inventor Samuel F.B.
