Fargo, and Treasurer, Ross. Two revenue stamps one five cent on front and one twenty-five cent stamp on back. Vignette Dockside warehouse w/four horse wagon front, train on left w/logo initials, ship leaving harbor on right. of dog top left and handshake bottom left. Printer John H. Duyckinck x 9.5 inches. Very fine condition, folds barely visible, one cancel hole and two cancel stamps dated 1871. This company was the consolidation of the American Express Company and the Merchants Union Express Company. Near the close of the Civil War, Merchants Union Express was created specifically to compete with American Express and the Wells-Fargo-Butterfield-Livingston business family.
