Early and rare! Incorporated in Vermont. Issued for ten shares, 11031-11040, on July 1st, 1852. Signed by the president, F.E. Phelps and secretary Warren Currier. Not cancelled. Three allegorical vignettes, small size certificate (3.75 x 7.75"). Heavy soiling, folds, creases. The American Mining Company was based in Windsor, Vermont but had mines in many places in the U.S. including California, Virginia, and North Carolina (see our March 2018 sale). Mines included the Windsor, Derby, Norwich, Cabarrus, and others. This is our first from the Lancaster Mine and we cannot locate it. Possibly South Carolina. Date: 1852 Location: HWAC# 62771
