Alpine MD. Stock certificate number 1 for 1 share in 1902 to George W. Dunn. Signed by President George Dunn. Dunn was one of the great mining swindlers of his time. Let the magazines of the day tell you the story. United States Investor, August 17, 1901: The Standard Chemical Company is a mythical corporation bought out by the notorious George W. Dunn, whose swindling operations in connection with National Nickel and other fake projects have been fully exposed. United States Investor, August 17, 1901: The [American Nickel Company] is one which has been reported upon in our columns from time to time, the country having been flooded by the alluring products of George W. Dunn's pen. The company laid claims to four nickel mines at Nickel, Nevada, the assertion was made that it had no rights to those claims. After it began to look like the National Nickel Co. had been worked to death, it was reorganized into the American Nickel Company. Our advice regarding this concern is that it be left severely alone.
