Rare. $500 bond. Bond no. 57, issued to banker B.F. Hastings of Sacramento City on May 31st, 1862. Signed by president Arrowsmith, secretary CTH Palmer, and BF Hastings. Not cancelled. Floral black border and print. Folds, many creases, and toning/soiling. 12 x 14" The American River Water and Mining Company was formed in 1854 to build a ditch to divert water from the North Fork of the American River. The North Fork Ditch was dug from 1854-1856, and provided water for drinking, irrigation and mining operations to areas that are near Folsom. Palmer was also a Folsom banker (Granite Banking House), as well as Wells Fargo Agent and an assayer.
