Two pieces of ephemera from the American River Water and Mining Company.
A) American River Water & Mining Company stock certificate. No. 329 for two shares issued to Francis Clark. Dated April 14, 1857. Signed by President, A.T. Arrowsmith and Secretary, C.T.H. Palmer. This is a revised design for when the company was recapitalized at $300,000. Palmer was a 49er who became a Folsom Banker in the 1860s. The company was working "Doten's Bar" and Mormon Island on branches of the American River. It was formed in December 1854 to build a ditch to divert water from the North Fork of the American River to bring drinking water and irrigation to the area mining operations. 9.75 x 4.25 inches.
B) Document listing the American River Water and Mining Company Water Collector's Weekly Returns for the Rose Springs branch. Dated September 28, 1857. Printed on blue paper. 8 x 11.75 inches.
