Auction Details

A Sale of National Treasures!
Wow! We’ve got one of our largest sales ever, covering too many categories to list.
The sale has many major collections, all new to the marketplace. Let’s take a look at a few:
Coins and Currency: The American History Collection continues with some of America’s first gold coins, proof coins and great rarities. In addition, the Confederate currency collection is one of the best to hit the market in a long time. Our collector started in the 1960s, and the collection has not seen the light of day in decades, all “fresh.” We will be at the ANA National Coin show in Chicago, August 6-9 with some of the best pieces. Come see us!
Native American Jewelry: There has been a major collection of American turquoise in Native American art in jewelry form since the 1970s hiding in the Midwest for almost fifty years … until now! With more than 300 lots comprised of about 1000 pieces, you’ll see the art of Zuni and Navajo artists at their finest.
Turquoise and raw western gems. We have a collection of raw gem material from many western turquoise mines, all collected before 1980, including a sample of a large amount of the famous No. 8 mine in eastern Nevada.
The Tahoe/Reno Western Art Collection. This amazing collection of high quality bronzes and western oils will knock you across the room. Simply world-class and stunning at every turn.
Art Nouveau. A world-class collection of original vintage art nouveau post cards, including the famous Alphonse Mucha. Nothing like this has been up for sale in many decades. You’ll see more here than in any of the three Mucha exhibits in Mucha’s home town of Prague!
Levi Strauss and miner’s pants. We’ve got a new discovery from Utah and Idaho of about 15 pairs of miner’s pants from the c1875-1890 period, many of which are makes and models not seen before. Sorry- no Levi pants, but there is a signed (autographed) Levi Strauss check at the end of the section!
Antique Western Bottles! A great offering from two collections, highlighted by a Thomas Taylor, Virginia, N. and a new 1850’s California soda discovery.
Western Antiquities. Too many to mention. Don’t miss the 1850s daguerreotype of a group of miners with their sluice box near Placerville in excellent condition.
Eastern Watercolor Art of China. A fabulous selection from a private collection of Qin Wei, known in China as a “National Treasure.” Only one of his pieces resides today in an American museum. Don’t miss your chance at these quintessentially eye-catching art.
UNCLAIMED MERCHANDISE: In the event that a successful bidder has paid in full for their merchandise but fails to settle outstanding shipping invoices or make arrangements for merchandise pickup within 60 days, HWAC reserves the right to declare the merchandise forfeited. This forfeiture will result in the merchandise becoming the property of HWAC and the successful bidder shall have no claim to or rights over the forfeited merchandise.
