This collection includes several pieces from the late 1800s, including nine American Trotting Register Official Certificates, registering the horses as standard bred and including their pedigrees. It includes three original 1891 certificates for horses Poleta, Eliza B. and Gypsey, and six copies dated 1891-92 for Eliza B., Carille, Poleta, Ora E. Three sepia tone photographs are matted on poster board, depicting unnamed horses and their riders or owners. One states in penciled handwriting, "Running race horse, Mahlon's running race horse"; another, "She cost lots, Miss Monroe, Eld's trotting or buggy mare, fine horse fast trotter, He had a $5000 mare, thoroughbred, Hill had the finest horse in 3 counties; and "Lambert family at Summerland," (with three riders on horseback in front of a house, showing people dressed in traditional garb), along with a personal message. Three letterheads from Wm. H. Taylor, Dealer in Live Stock, written to Mrs. W. G. Tilley, dated 1892 and 13 other letters, pedigrees, mortgaged stock lists and other notes related to the horses/owners, etc., are also included.City: San Luis ObispoCounty: San Luis ObispoState: CADate:
