Very rare. Location printed on certificate: Monitor District (printed in left border) and Alpine County, California (printed in right border). Incorporated in New York. No. 193, issued for 5 shares to Samuel L. Granger on June 14th, 1866. Signed by Lincoln, president, and secretary J.H. Slant (?). Not cancelled. Vignette of multiple miners working on the surface and smaller vignette of eagle. Printed by Major & Knapp, NY. 25 cent IR stamp with tied cancel on the left. Folds, some separation, soiling and foxing. Not in Filer. In 1866, S.A. Hawkins, assessor, reports that the company was reported to have 240 feet of tunnel run, and running to open the American belt at 700 feet deep. Other mines in this district mentioned in the same report include the Winchester, Monitor Consolidated, and Superior. Besides the Monitor District,there was also mentioned the Silver Mountain, Mokelumne, Raymond, and Mogul districts in Alpine County. Hawkins notes that a considerable amount of work has been done in the county in the previous two years.
