This an Ames Mfg. Co. model 1860 cavalry saber with scabbard. It is marked "U.S." over "JHC" on the left side ricossa J.H. Cooper inspected for the Ordinance Dept. between 1861-1870. The right side ricossa is marked A.G. Co. (Ames) followed below with the flaming bomb (the Springfield Armory logo) and S/N of "1906". The grip is wire wrapped black leather and the scabbard is marked "76" a the throat. A dent in the scabbard, good condition. 43 in. overall length.
