This is a collection of spent ammunition that are metal detector finds. There are a number of .58 caliber bullets that would have been issued during the Civil War. There are 10 rounds of .56-50 Spencer carbine rounds where the primers have not been dented marked "SAW" (Sage Ammunition Works 1864-1866). Each one has been pinched with a tool to prevent further usage. There are 4- .45-70 cal. carbine short rounds with the Berdan priming system, and 11 .45-70 spent rounds all date coded from 1877 to 1881. Several .45 cal. 500 grain bullets with wide grease grooves for us with black powder. Lastly there is a fragment of a cannon ball recovered after firing. All cartridges are Berdan or Benet priming systems. From the Bracken collection. Please see photos for details. Bracken Estate
