This lot holds eleven pieces of Anasazi (Ancient Puebloan) pottery shards. There are four pieces in the 3in .size with black on white ware decorated inside or outside. One piece is of corrugated construction and appears to have been pressed to give the visual effect; yet the rim is expanded, smoothed, and painted black on white. Other pieces have intricate geometric designs indicating that the potter was both a skilled technician and an artist to complete painted geometrics on the inside of a jar! Is it possible that multiple people completed each piece; a potter, a painter, and a fire kiln technician? The smaller pieces are all black on white with significant geometric designs. From the Bracken collection. Please see photos for details.
