Historic and possibly ancient flat cooking basket, 25" in diameter, with a large missing broken section in bottom area of frame about 3 x 9". Period repairs, typical, according to ND. This is a center start coil, containing approximately 93 coils in what appears to be single rod construction. The repairs are remarkably well done, both in stitching and in rod replacement. There are no visible patterns, other than burn marks from charcoal. As told us by ND, charcoal was often placed on top of the goods cooked, and it was commonplace for coals to burn through the basket. The fame also contains three projectile points and a scraper. One of the projectile points is a reddish white chert. possibly from Steamboat or McDermitt. This is very clearly an abandoned cooking basket, not ceremonial, and shows no evidence of having been buried.
