This solid cast saber is a 32 1/4 in. (82 cm) overall length sword. The edge is real and ground by hand. This sword is very plain without any ornamentation but has been painted black at some point possibly to stabilize the oxidation but now almost gone. Known examples have followed this design since about the 1650's in the east Indian culture. The hilt has a distinctive "T" shape and the pommel is a circular disc with a distinctive flower petal cast design on the cap. The guard area has a sheath flange on both sides of the blade to make contact with the scabbard, now missing. Heavily oxidized. Authentic and not a replica. City: State: Date: HWAC# 51130
