Kissi Penny: developed by the Gizza tribe in West Africa, in use for several centuries. 12 inch long piece of metal. Kissi pennies were smelted and hand-forged by native blacksmiths of the Gizzi, Bande, Kpelle and Loma tribes of West Africa. Longstrands of iron twisted together and the ends hammered into a "T" shape at one end and a rounded blade at the other. Used with British and French coins from the 1880s until the late 1930s. Japanese Marriage Money: passed from one generation to the other, used as part of the marriage ritual, picturing forms of marital contact; 58 mm.
