"Let us Forgive, But not Forget" is the theme of this Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) poster depicting incidents and acts of cruelty while imprisoned at the Andersonville Prison and Hospital. Created by G.F. Keller, GAR in 1884. The GAR was founded in 1866 for the aid of veterans. The poster measures 21 in. X 28 in. The paper has yellowed, water stained, a chip missing top center, a tear lower right, otherwise quite readable. There are 50 illustrations to be followed on this print with names of the parties involved. There is a caption of John January who lost his feet due to scurvy and gangrene. His story is another entry in this auction. [Andersonville] [Georgia] [] [] []
