Group of 45 plates cut from A Natural History, General and Particular, printed by Richard Evans, Whites Row Spitalfields, 1817. By George L. Le Clerc, Count of Buffon. The plates have for the most part been hand colored. I find the most unusual plate is plate 45, which has a Narwhal whale with the ivory spike/horn. The rendering is nothing like the narwhal, and the artist had to make something up here. The Giraffe print is very nice, as is one of secretary birds, camels etc. City: State: Date:
