The Ann Arbor and West Virginia Oil and Mining Company was organized and incorporated January 13th , 1866 , in accordance with the general law of Michigan for the incorporation of manufacturing and mining companies . Although mining is in the company name, we believe this company was in the petroleum business in West Virginia. Commercial oil and gas production in W. Virginia began around 1859 and the Volcano oil field was discovered in 1860. The company was located at Wetzel, West Virginia. VF with extra folds. Uncanceled.
