This bucket weights 8 1/2 pounds! It will keep your ice cream cold. Side says 'Chism I. C. Co. Reno.' John H. Chism was the proprietor of the Chism Dairy from 1900 to 1912, and Crescent Dairy from 1912 to sometime in the 1950's. By 1904, John H. Chism had the largest number of milk cows in the state of Nevada and was considered Nevada's leading dairyman. The Chism’s sold almost all the milk for Reno and Sparks. John’s brother, Edward Warren Chism created the Chism Ice Cream Company in 1905 on this property. Power for the factory was maintained by a waterwheel along the Truckee River. Edward later moved the ice cream factory to 219-245 West Street. Chism Ice Cream was enjoyed by many locals for eight decades. Renoites remember the wonderfully smooth and deliciously creamy ice cream. Includes a 1918 envelope with a corner advertisement for Chism Ice Cream Company.
