A collection of a dozen different trade cards that were advertising for Liebig Company's Fleisch-Extract, England, from about 1900-20s. It was named after Justus Freiherr von Liebig, the 19th-century German organic chemist who developed and promoted a method for industrial production of beef extract in 1850. The production of these cards started in 1870 and ended in 1975, spanning more than 11,000 different types of cards. These cards appear to be from two series - half titled "Im Fruhling" and half "Farben." Each features a different girl, in art nouveau style, in an outdoor setting. Not signed. Publisher: Siehe Ruckseite. Approximately 4.5" x 2.75" each. Very little wear. See photo for more details.
