This postcard, c1900-05, was designed by Alphonse Mucha. No. 504. Reverie of Evening (Reverie du Soir). R-4. Lady in pink and green gown rests chin on hand. Unused. Light foxing, otherwise clean.
The following four cards from the 6th Series, Awakening of Morning, Brightness of Day, Reverie of Evening and Repose of Night, take their themes from a set of decorative panels published in 1899. Without question, these four cards are among the most beautiful in the entire Mucha series. The cards in the 5th, 6th and 7th series are scarcer than those in the preceding series, possibly because of their "miscellaneous" nature. It also could be due to the declining popularity of Art Nouveau postcards at the time. One authority has written that the year 1900 marked the peak of popularity of "le style Mucha."
