Ashland was a small mining community that connected Virginia and Gild Hill. Not in any Nevada history books. Information came ONLY from the Virginia Evening Bulletin of September 9, 1863. it was located between Virginia City and Gold Hill (entire article is included.) # 54 for 18 shares to A Dubois. Signed by Thomas Brownejohns and P Mc(?) president. Dateline San Francisco 1863. Incorporated March 10, 1863. 25c protest revenue stamp. Not cancelled. Miner holding flag vignette. Towne & Bacon printer. Location: Ashland Ledge, Virginia Mining District, Storey County, N. T. The California Daily Alta of October 7, 1862 has stock selling for the Ashland Gold and Silver Mining Company. According to the cert it wasn't incorporated yet? It is listed as adjoining the Ophir - an enviable location. (Notes included.)
