# 54 for 18 shares to A Dubois. Signed by Thomas Brownejohns and P Mc(?) president. Dateline San Francisco 1863. Incorporated March 10, 1863. 25c protest revenue stamp. Not cancelled. Miner holding flag vignette. Towne & Bacon printer. Location: Ashland Ledge, Virginia Mining District, Storey County, N. T. The California Daily Alta of October 7, 1862 has stock selling for the Ashland Gold and Silver Mining Company. According to the cert it wasn't incorporated yet? It is listed as adjoining the Ophir - an enviable location. But stock was assessed in April of 1863 (again before the mine was incorporated) and Brownejohns was the secretary. This needs more research as it could actually be a more valued 1862 cert. Prag Collection State: Nevada City: Comstock - Virginia District Date: 1863
