Passenger receipt for a passenger embarking at Aspinwall headed to New York. This is not a California to New York ticket, as were many of the passengers. The steamer "Central America" is clearly visible fillied in by hand with pen ink. The ticket cost was $21.The passenger name is somewhat unclear, but might be Thos. Malmus (sp?), in steerage. The printed form used here is the United States Mail Steamship Line, with an Aspinwall dateline. It is unknown if this passenger survived, as both the receipt is difficult to read, and not all of the passengers are known today.

Provenance: SS Central America Collection
