Memorandum of Gold Bullion deposited at the United States Assay Office, No. 547, at Helena, M.T., the 11th day of October, 1883, by P. V. Jackson. "Dust" valued at $159.19 following $1.60 "Deductions for Melting, Refining, Parting, Alloy." Signed by Russell B. Harrison, C.S.S, Assayer in Charge. "[Ed. 10-5-'82-2,000] Stereo's." printed below bottom left border. Measures 14" x 5 1/2", mounted on white backing in modern frame of light colored wood (16" x 8"). This U.S. Assay Office operated from 1874-1933. P.V. Jackson was associated with the Galena Mine, located at Sterling, which was sold to a group of investors from Cleveland.. Developed by Jackson, he and its lessees received $200,000 from high-grade ore mining [Ref: Engineering and Mining Journal, Vol. 97, No. 11, pp. 590].
