This assay #9696 from the office of E. Ruhling & Co. of Virginia, Nevada for the Savage Mine Co. on (Papoose Hill) dated 1871. The total value is $1732.90 for both gold and silver and signed by E. Ruhling lower right. The Ruhling Co. provided 25 oz. for a silver spike to commemorate the completion of the transcontinental railroad at Promontory Summit in Utah for the CPRR. The Savage Mine is also known for producing a 1000 oz. ingot from its mine at Virginia City. 14 in. X 6.5 in. no foxing.
