This assay tool held three samples from which gold buttons were made during the assay process. It was dug at the North Georgia College site many decades ago. It comes with original paperwork from 1991 discussing the provenance. It may be one of the few original artifacts left over from the the Dahlonega Mint which operated 1838 to 1861. Choice.
