Atlantic and Great Western Railroad began as 3 separate railroads: the Erie and New York City Railroad, Jamestown, NY; Meadville Railroad, Meadville, PA; Franklin and Warren Railroad, Franklin Mills, OH. New combined line reached Cleveland on Nov. 18, 1863, connected to the Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton Railroad in Dayton on June 20, 1864 linking St. Louis with New York. Aug. 19, 1865 3 companies combined into Atlantic and Great Western Railway. On Jan. 10, 1880 property sold at foreclosure and was reorganized as the New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio Railroad.
