Second one FH has ever seen. "Union District, Nye County, Na." printed on either side of vignette of two allegorical figures. Inc. 1864. No. 63, issued for 10 shares issued to NM Mason in San Francisco in 1866. Signed by president OL Lambard and secretary Geo. R. Williamson. Not cancelled. Fancy title and gray underprint. 25 cent revenue stamp. Folds, toning, a few small tears. 5.5 x 9.25" The tiny town of Union was located in Union Canyon, south of the county seat of Nye County at Ione. Mining began in 1863 and the Atlantic & Pacific Company quickly owned all the mines in the district. They platted the townsite of Union and started building a stamp mill but soon faded away. The name of the company was designed to attract attention. It coincides with the A & P telegraph, the A&P railroad, the A&P steamship company and others. We have sold territorial pieces from this company in the past.
