$250 first mortgage, 8% Bond #Series 519B, dated Feb. 23, 1887 signed by Brock Pomeroy, pres and A.S. Whitaker, secy. Raised company seal. 3 Vignettes: train, bear and Native American. According to an article in the NY Times on Sept 20, 1895 a suit was brought against the company. After 1/4 of the tunnel was dug, the work stopped. Brock Pomeroy and A.S. Whitaker stopped paying taxes. They organized a new company, named Atlantic Pacific Railway Tunnel & Mining Co. who paid the taxes, which was only $88 and said they now owned the property and not the share holders.
