Atolia is a ghost town in the Mojave Desert near Randsburg. It was at the site of a tungsten mine that started production about 1905. The community was named after two mining company officials, Atkins and DeGolia. At one time there were 2000 people living there. Atolia was on the Randsburg Railway line and once hosted a dairy, a movie theater, and the Bucket of Blood saloon. One Atolia Mining Company letterhead 1919. One Atolia Mining Company billhead. One photograph of the Kelly Mine c1920’s. One 1930 cover with letter on the death of Judge John F. Davis. The post office was open from 1906-1922 and 1927-1944.
