Aurora Gold and Geologic specimens. Two adularia crystalline specimens. One volcanic rock, one large hand specimen “mined 1860, bonanza ore” 3.5 x 3.5 x 2”. These adularia specimens closely resemble the specimen shown on Plate XVIIb of USGS Bulletin 594 "Some Mining Districts in Northeastern California and Northwestern Nevada" by James Hill, 1915. The Hill specimen came from the Monarch Tunnel. One of the Gottchalk specimens shows “”$21 ore” (equivalent to one ounce per ton gold). The coincidence of the adularia pictured in Hill to the specimens in the Gottschalk Collection lends us the interpretation that some or all of these specimens might have come from Hill to Gottschalk.
