Two rare clipper cards for two ships from boston to melborne. The ships J. Montgomery and Atlanta were both owned by Samuel Stevens and co as part of the australian line. Stevens retained an office in boston in 1866. In 1864 on state st and 1866 on liberty sq. These cards are classic "clipper cards" printed in boston using colorful designs typical of their american counterparts. they were designed to take americans headed to the aussie goldfields, as well as return aussie miners from the us to home. 6.5" x 4"
