Art Smith was an American aviator who became a noted stunt pilot, sometimes flying with flares at night. He flew at the 1915 Pan-Pacific Exposition after stunt pilot Lincoln Beachey died crashing into the Bay. During WWII, Art Smith was a test pilot and instructor. After the War, he became an overnight air mail pilot with the United States Post Office, flying mail between New York and Chicago. In 1926 he was killed in a crash near Montpelier, Ohio. Smith Field airport in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is named for him. These three B&W postcards picture Smith in various locations.
