Lot of 65 items for the Ayer Family, which had roots in Reno and Virginia City, Nevada. This is a Reno collection. (See other lots in this sale that focus more on the family's presence on the Comstock). 1) Fifty-six photographs, most mounted, including a few cabinet cards. The smallest is 3 x 2" and the largest is 10.5 x 6.5" with most landing in the middle. Reno photographers include: Goodner, Paffrath, Oakland Studio, Craftsman, Riverside, Rembrandt, Butler & Painter, Dowe, and Conant. Nearly all of the photographs have some kind of identification on the back. Most are portraits, though there are a few that show homes. Most appear to be be post-1900. Some show "Uncle Al" who worked as a scenery painter for MGM studios. 2) Ten other items including 8 postcards and 2 album pages. Six of the postcards are real photo and show family members. One is a 1906 leather postcard. The last is a printed of Belle Isle. The two album pages are from the family's time on the Comstock with entries from Gold Hill and Virginia City in the 1880s and 1890s. Please inspect. Date: Location: Reno, Nevada HWAC# 55578
