Azurite is a deep blue copper carbonate mineral produced by weathering of copper ore deposits. This is an exceptional quality Tsumeb Mine azurite specimen. The crystals are super sharp, some intergrown with the matrix rock. Most of the azurite crystals are in parallel growth, the color of the azurite crystals is deep dark blue and the luster is very strong. The specimen was mined at the world-famous Tsumeb Copper Mine (now closed). While Tsumeb has yielded specimens of more than 240 different mineral species, Azurite is acknowledged to be one of the premier species produced at the locale. Dimensions (cm): 8 H x 6.8 W x 4.5 D.
