Scarce billhead from the Bagdad Chase Gold Mining Company datelined Camp Rochester, Cal. (Stagg P.O.). Apparantly the mining company was also operating a sort of general store selling merchandise, lumber, coal, powder, etc. Items sold seem to be mostly lumber including, "gang planks, candle box, coal box" etc. The Bagdad-Chase gold mine was located 2/10 of a mile sse of Stedman and 7 miles so. of Ludlow. For perspective, the mine is 47 miles east of Barstow on Interstate 40 and then 7.6 miles south from Ludlow on Bagdad Chase Road. The mine was discovered in 1880 by John Suter, the roadmaster for the Atlantic and Pacific subsidiary of the Santa Fe Railway. From 1904 to 1910, the Bagdad-Chase produced $4.5 million. We have seen stock certificates from this company, but billheads, not so much. City: Rochester State: California Date: HWAC# 51255
