Lot of 2 unissued including certificate No. 1. 1890s Denver dateline. Eagle vignette. "The precious metal mines of the county are practically an undeveloped resource. Each year the eastern portion, or, in other words, the western slope of the Conejos range, is the scene of more or less prospecting and desultory mining. A large portion of this territory has, until within a few years, been closed to prospectors. It is known as the Tierra Amarilla grant. The northern portion of this grant, embracing some sixty thousand acres, is owned by The Banded Peak Land and Mining Company. Willard Teller, president; E. B. Morgan, secretary, Denver, Colo. This company has formulated a set of mining rules and regulations for those desiring to prospect or mine that are liberal and insure good title to property. The regulations, in the main, conform to state laws governing mining operations." [Ref: Report of the State Bureau of Mines, 1901-02, pg.17] () Ken Prag Collection
