A bank check written to a business still in existence today, Pinkerton's Protective Patrol, Denver, Colorado, c1894. Comes with a 2.25" x 2.75" white metal badge embossed "PINKERTON'S/5/PATROL" and embossed "N. STAFFORD/MAKER/66 FULTON ST. N.Y." on verso. The mostly preprinted check No. 4623 for $5 was "For Watching Premises from March 1st, 1894 to April 1st 1894." Vignette of founder, Allan Pinkerton in oval frame that's printed with "Pinkerton's Protective Patrol/Opera House Block." "Received Payment for Pinkerton's Protect Patrol," stamped signature "J.T. Howard, Capt." at bottom. The Pinkerton company, established in 1850, has continued to exist in various forms to the present day and is now a division of the Swedish security company Securitas AB, operating as Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations, Inc., doing business as Pinkerton Corporate Risk Management.
