Lot of 10 different. This is a fantastic collection! The Bank of California Virginia City branch opened in September 1864 with William Sharon installed as cashier. Sharon had been sent to the Comstock to collect on debts owed by the failure of the Stateler & Arrington bank. Sharon, along with WC Ralston, would build the bank into a powerhouse firm that controlled most of the Comstock mining properties in the 1860s before being unseated by Mackay, Fair, Flood, & O'Brien. First is an extremely rare and early November 1864 check--just two months after opening! This is signed by Charles Bonner for the Gould & Curry. Other pieces include: Gould & Curry 1866 (signed by Janin), NV and US IR adhesive stamps; 1870 signed by Requa, RN-B and green printed NV stamp; 1870 G&C with rare RN-B17b, signed by Batterman; 1870 with RN-C, signed by Batterman; 1872 G&C with rare RN-C21b, signed by Batterman; 1873 signed by RN Graves; 1881 and 1884 signed by RP Keating (for Savage Mine); and 1881 debit slip. Please inspect.
