General Description: Barbed wire spelled the end to open range grazing for stockmen in the west in the 1880's. Soon settlers began staking out claims and fencing in their property using barbed wire. This led to a lot of conflicts between stockmen and settlers. None more famous than the war in Wyoming in 1892. We are showing seven beautiful display cases of Western American barbed wire. Each case measures 38" x 22" and is shadow box style, wood frame, plexi glass front, wood back is covered in tan cloth material. Each piece displayed is listed by designer, patent number, date of patent, and trade name. This lot description: 16 pieces, all patented by Joseph F. Glidden of DeKalb, IL.
